Yh. Wen et al., CRITERION FOR THE PROGRESS OF MARTENSITIC-TRANSFORMATION IN A FINITE-ELEMENT SIMULATION, Journal de physique. IV, 5(C2), 1995, pp. 531-536
Martensitic transformation process is considered to be controlled by t
he driving energies, i.e. chemical free energy and mechanical driving
force, and ''resistive energies'', i.e. the interaction energy associa
ted with the transformation and interfacial energy. In this study, a t
wo dimensional finite element simulation is set up in order to describ
e the microstructural and mechanical behaviour during martensitic tran
sformation. A transformation criterion that considers both the mechani
cal driving force and the interaction energy is taken into account. Th
e effect of these two terms on the development of the plate orientatio
ns inside the grain is analysed in an elastic material.
