Abstract
The basic features of the sol-gel process and the sol-gel coloured coa ting method for the coloration of glass plates are described. These re present a novel coating technology based on organic colorants. Commerc ially available dyestuffs, including reactive dyes capable of bonding directly to the silica matrix, that can be used in this new applicatio n are discussed.
