Re. Stewart et al., WEATHER CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PASSAGE OF PRECIPITATION TYPE TRANSITION REGIONS OVER EASTERN NEWFOUNDLAND, Atmosphere-ocean, 33(1), 1995, pp. 25-53
The passage of a winter storm is accompanied by changes in many surfac
e and near-surface parameters including temperature, humidity, wind pr
essure, precipitation rare and type, cloud base height, visibility and
accretion. These parameters were measured in association with the pas
sage of precipitation-type transitions over Newfoundland during the Ca
nadian Atlantic Storms Program II field experiment. Three simple summa
ries of the observed weather events were developed. These summaries de
pend on the observed large-scale synoptic conditions, which include wa
rm fronts, a cold front and a trough.
