Gas permeability of supported liquid membranes filled with liquid silo
xanes of linear and dendrite structures was studied in the temperature
interval from -55 to +22 degrees C. The difference in membrane proper
ties was found to be controlled solely by the properties of filling li
quids. Permeability of dendrite fillers (siloxane and carbosilane fill
ers) with the same outer shell of siloxane groups but with different c
ore composition was shown to be 5-10 times lower than that of linear o
ligo(dimethyl siloxane). The contact of dendrite fillers with CO2 was
not accompanied by plasticization as was observed for linear siloxane.
This experimental evidence suggested that both the shell and the inne
r part of a dendrite molecule were involved in the transport of gases.
