Abstract
Radical copolymerization of N-vinylpyrrolidone with N-vinylformamide i n isopropanol solution was studied. It was found that the reactivity r atios of these comonomers are both equal to unity. The mechanism of th e copolymerization was explained by assuming that the chain propagatio n involves N-vinylformamide molecules in the trans-conformation that a re associated by hydrogen bonding.
