A 29 year old Sri Lanka man in France since 6 months, was hospitalized
for an asthmatic dyspnea with a miliary radiologic aspect and a great
number of eosinophilia in blood and broncho-alveolar lavage. Parasito
logic exams were no contributive but a strong positive antifilariasis
antibody allowed us to diagnose Weingarten's syndrome. Ivermectine lea
ded to clinic and radiologic improvment and disappearance of eosinophi
ls within 2 months. We reviewed medical literature on tropical pulmona
ry eosinophilia. This entity must be known, on account of frequent tra
vels and immigration from South East Asia, to treat this disease and a
void chronic respiratory insufficiency.
