Abstract
A great deal of effort is being expended at national, state and local levels to improve cancer pain management in the United States. The fac t that cancer patients continue to experience ''unrelieved pain'' is o f concern to professional caregivers and families, as well as to the p atients themselves. This article describes the content and scope of an educational program for nurses work in predominantly rural areas. Con tent of the program and the evaluation process are described in detail order to provide other caregivers with a model that could be implemen ted in similar settings.
