Abstract
The molecular structure of 1,4-dimethyl-2,5-dioxabicyclo [2.2.2]octane -3,6-dione (1) has been determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The skeleton of dilactone 1 has a synchro(+,+,+)-twist conformation with d ihedral angles phi = 4.0 degrees for the hydrocarbon bridge bonds and phi = 4.4, 4.6 degrees for the lactone bridge bonds.
