M. Toth et al., MALE SEX ATTRACTANTS FOR SOME LEPIDOPTEROUS PESTS OF THE GENERA EVERGESTIS AND PYRAUSTA (LEPIDOPTERA, PYRALIDAE), Acta phytopathologica et entomologica Hungarica, 29(1-2), 1994, pp. 155-159
A male sex attractant was discovered for Pyrausta verticalis as (E)-9-
dodecenyl acetate. Males of other species attracted to different doses
of this compound included also Blasthestia turionella, Cnephasia oxya
canthana, C. virgaureana, and Cydia cosmoforana. The mixtures of (Z)-7
-dodecenyl acetate / (Z)-9-tetradecenyl acetate, and of (Z)-9-tetradec
enal / (Z)-11-hexadecenal were observed to attract males of Evergestis
extimalis and E. frumentalis, respectively. The attractive activity o
f the blend of (Z)-7-dodecenyl acetate / (Z)-9-tetradecenyl acetate to
wards male E. aenealis was also indicated.
