Abstract
The Shpol'skii effect provides a highly sensitive and selective spectr oscopic technique which has been applied, in the last ten years, to th e determination of polycyclic aromatic compounds (PACs), such as prior ity pollutant PACs, sulfur- and nitrogen-containing aromatic compounds , bio-geochemical markers, PAC metabolites and very large PACs.
