J. Bires et al., DISTRIBUTION OF CU, FE, ZN, AS, CD AND PB IN SHEEP ORGANISMS AFTER EXPERIMENTAL INTOXICATION WITH COPPER-OXIDE FROM INDUSTRIAL FLUE DUST, Tierarztliche Umschau, 50(5), 1995, pp. 364-367
In eight sheep (improved valaska) cumulations of Cu, Fe, Zn, As, Cd an
d Pb were investigated after experimental intoxication with copper oxi
de from flue dust of a copper producing plant. The highest concentrati
ons of Cu (2138.40 +/- 1090.96 mg/kg of dry matter) were detected in l
iver. Kidneys, wall of small intestine and spleen proved also to posse
ss high cumulative amounts of copper. Fe was mainly deposited in splee
ns and kidneys, Zn in kidneys and liver, the highest concentrations of
As were found in the dry matter of kidneys (13.09 +/- 3.82 mg/kg); th
e ones of Cd in bones (0.36 +/- 0.10 mg/kg) and those of Pb in kidneys
(5.53 +/- 2.19 mg/kg).
