A modification has been developed for the detection of trace quantitie
s of amines on paper or thin layer chromatograms. The modification of
the procedures was based on the inhibition of oxydoreductases by amine
compounds. It has been found that the presence of amines in the enzym
atic reaction medium clearly affects the activity of enzymes. The chan
ge in the activity of the enzyme was proportional to the amount of ana
lysed amine. The proposed modification is suitable to detect about 1 n
g of amine compound.
