A. Liberti et al., STORAGE EFFECTS ON NINHYDRIN-DEVELOPED FINGERPRINTS ENHANCED BY ZINC COMPLEXATION, Forensic science international, 72(3), 1995, pp. 161-169
A study has been made of the effects of storage on the fluorescence of
latent fingermarks on paper developed with ninhydrin and zinc chlorid
e. Exposure to sunlight or xenon arc light causes fading of the marks
but the presence of moisture or high humidity results in the loss of f
luorescence and the formation of a red non-fluorescent compound.
