Abstract
A new method for the determination of 2-mercapto-4(3H)-quinazolinone, using its reaction with iodine in an alkaline medium is presented. Vol umetric titration in an alkaline medium with tile potentiometric end-p oint detection enables determination of 50-500 mu mol (8.9-89 mg) of t he analyte. In coulometric titration with the anodically generated iod ine, using biamperometric end-point detection, 0.2-2 mu mol (0.036-0.3 6 mg) of 2-mercapto-4(3H)-quinazolinone was successfully determined. I n both variants the relative standard deviation was below 1%.
