Twenty-four species of Campodea have been described from North America
. The subgenera in the genus are characterized and a kev is given for
the eight species in the nominate subgenus that occur east of the Miss
issippi River. A new species, Campodea (sensu stricto) hannahae, is de
scribed from Virginia and West Virginia where it appears to be widespr
ead and common in the mountainous areas.
