A facility for making space-and-time measurements of the magnetic fiel
d and electron density in laser plasma is described. The space (simila
r to 5 mu m) and time (similar to 50 psec) resolutions are high. The m
agnetic field and electron density that are measured are 0.05-10 MG an
d 10(19)-10(21) cm(-3). Space-and-time measurements of the magnetic fi
eld in a plasma produced from an aluminum target by the Nd-laser secon
d harmonic at a power density of similar to 5.10(14) W/cm(2) are repor
ted.
