MICROSURGICAL TREATMENT OF VARICOCELE IN ADOLESCENTS

Between March 1990 and November 1992, 22 adolescents with varicocele, 13 unilateral left and 4 bilateral, are presented. They were all treat ed with microsurgical techniques by shunting the venous drainage by me ans of a spermatic inferior epigastric end-to-side anastomosis. The re sults achieved have been optimum with the clinical disappearance of va ricose veins in 100 %, of the cases and the elimination of the spontan eous reflux of the interna spermatic vein in 100 % of the patients sho wn by echodoppler. This technique enables the establishment of an imme diate and physiological testicular venous drainage fundamental for tes ticular growth and development.
