Abstract
In the present study we report some measurements of the velocity of ac oustic waves generated by photoacoustic effect using a pulsed ruby las er in benzene, chlorobenzene, carbontetrachloride and acetone in the p ure form using delay time technique. These values are compared with th e measurements made by making the media absorptive by adding cryptocya nine dye at low concentration. It is found that there is an excellent agreement in the results obtained from these two methods and agree ver y well with those values reported earlier using conventional methods.
