The Raman spectra of temperature-sensitive samples are often difficult
to record because of the significant temperature rises (up to 40 degr
ees C) experienced when using relatively low (125 mW) laser powers. Th
ese effects can be minimised by using nujol mulls and pressed disks si
milar to those commonly employed for infrared analysis. This is illust
rated by the use of a series of highly coloured samples whose further
analysis allows the optimised sampling parameters to be presented.
