C. Fournou et E. Davoust, ON THE CORRELATION BETWEEN FIR LUMINOSITY AND HI MASS IN GALAXIES, Astrophysical letters & communications, 31(1-6), 1995, pp. 125-130
Far infrared luminosity, neutral hydrogen mass and blue luminosity are
correlated in galaxies, despite the presence of strong selection effe
cts, which. increasingly weaken the trend at large distances. Barred g
alaxies have a larger HI mass (and thus FIR luminosity) than ordinary
ones. FIR-bright galaxies of type Sb and later show a definite relativ
e HI deficiency with respect to non-FIR galaxies.
