Abstract
We report on the first results of the Dwingeloo Obscured Galaxy Survey (DOGS). This survey is a long-term project to systematically search t he Northern Galactic Plane for 21-cm emission from galaxies hidden beh ind the Milky Way. The detection of a previously unknown galaxy (which we named Dwingeloo 1) early in the course of this survey suggests tha t many more such galaxies are likely to be discovered.
