Excess volumes V-E for binary mixtures of tetralin with hexane, heptan
e, octane, nonane, and decane have been determined from density measur
ements at temperatures from 293.15 to 313.15 K. V-E is negative over t
he whole composition range and becomes more negative with an increase
in temperature. At each temperature, V-E increases as the carbon numbe
r of the n-alkane decreases. The cubic expansion coefficients of tetra
lin and n-alkanes are also reported.
