Experimental results of density, viscosity, refractive index, and spee
d of sound in mixtures of 2-ethoxyethanol with n-alkanes (C-6 to C-12)
, 2,2,4-trimethylpentane, and cyclohexane are presented over the entir
e composition range at 298.15, 303.15, 308.15, and 313.15 K. These res
ults are fitted simultaneously with mixture composition and temperatur
e to an empirical equation. The computed values of excess molar volume
and deviations in viscosity, molar refractivity, speed of sound, and
isentropic compressibility are fitted to the Redlich-Kister polynomial
equation to estimate the adjustable parameters and standard deviation
s. The effect of the size and shape of the alkanes on excess quantitie
s is discussed. Excess molar volumes and deviations in viscosities sho
w a systematic increase with increasing temperature. However, the devi
ations in molar refractivities are not dependent on temperature.
