Amitraz possesses alpha 2-agnnist properties in domestic carnivores. T herefore, the association of characteristic symptoms (prostration, ata xial slowing of digestive transit, bradycardia, hypothermia) allows th e clinical diagnosis of amitraz intoxication. Specific treatment (admi nistration of alpha 2 antagonists such as yohimbin and atipamezol) and elimination ensure remission, without sequelae, of the symptoms obser ved.
