Abstract
Uterine fibroids are the most common of uterine benign tumors. General ly, the ultrasonic appearance of uterine fibroids is typical, and diag nosis is uncomplicated. However, the sonographic characteristics of fi broids undergoing cystic degeneration, and especially those of the sub mucous type, may be misleading. We present a series of submucous fluid s with cystic degeneration in peri- and postmenopausal women showing a distinct sonographic ''honeycomb'' pattern erroneously diagnosed as e ndometrial hyperplasia. The correct diagnosis was established by hyste roscopy. (C) 1995 John Wiley and Sons, Inc.
