The organizational culture of a department of residence life was exami ned, and individual sense-making in the culture was explored. Two dist inctive sets of interpretive frameworks, or filters through which indi viduals create meaning and make sense of all they encounter in a socia l setting, were identified. Implications for student affairs leaders a nd managers are also presented.
