Abstract
Utilizing the efficient preparation of (-)-methyl 8-epi-nonactate(4a) and (+)-nonactic acid(2b) and high yielding macrolactonization based o n the high dilution version of the Yamaguchi's method, the total synth esis of nonactin has been accomplished.
