Abstract
Paralysis, muscle imbalance, and spasticity resulting from myelomening ocele produce orthopedic deformities that often require surgical corre ction. Spinal deformities in myelomeningocele are nearly universal, an d are difficult to treat because of the absence of posterior elements. Hip dislocations frequently occur, but rarely require treatment. Seve re foot deformities are seen in up to 80% of children.
