Abstract
Low-symmetry metastable phases formed at the initial stage of crystall ization for the metallic glass Pd80Si20 are investigated by means of i n situ observation during heating using an electron microscope. Since the specimen holder used in the experiments is a single-tilt heating s pecimen holder, an universal structure analysis method is developed, a nd the low-symmetry metastable phases are analyzed using this method. A structural model for these metastable phases is presented and the co mmon features of these low-symmetry metastable phases are also discuss ed.
