Brain abscesses due to Staphylococcus aureus are most frequently assoc
iated with penetrating head trauma or surgical procedures, and they ar
e uncommon as a metastatic focus of bacteremia, except in the setting
of endocarditis (1, 2). There have been few reports of abscess formati
on following an intracerebral hematoma (3). We present a case of tempo
roparietal hematoma which developed into a brain abscess after bacteri
al seeding during a staphylococcal bacteremia.
