Na. Popov, MODELING OF PLASMA-CHEMICAL PROCESSES INITIATED BY A HIGH-POWER MICROWAVE-DISCHARGE IN AIR, Plasma physics reports, 20(3), 1994, pp. 303-310
A model of kinetic processes in nitrogen-oxygen mixtures excited by a
high-power gas discharge was developed. The processes, quenching metas
table O(D-1) atoms by nitrogen molecules, are included in the model to
describe gas heating. A description of processes forming excited O(S-
1) atoms in the postdischarge period and of associative ionization rea
ctions involving these atoms is presented. Taking these reactions into
consideration enables one to explain the increase in lifetime of the
created plasma. The results of the performed calculations adequately d
escribe the available experimental data on the dynamics of air heating
in the discharge, the evolution of the concentration of electrons, an
d oxygen and nitrogen atoms in the postdischarge period.
