In a 2 factorial rearing experiment with 48 piglets (German Landrace x
Pietrain, initial weight 7.1 kg) the feeding of white and yellow lupi
ns (Lupinus albus L., var. Lublanc and Lupinus luteus L., var. Borsaja
) was tested in combination with the enzyme Roxazyme(R) G over 6 weeks
. The proportions of the lupins were 15 % white and 30 % yellow lupins
, the enzyme supplementation was adjusted to 200 mg Roxazyme G per kg
of feed. The rations were isonitrogeneous (20 % XP in dry matter) and
isoenergetic (15.2 MJ ME per kg dry matter). The white/yellow lupins c
ontained 0.08 % alkaloids in dry matter and 1330/102 mg manganese per
kg dry matter. Both lupin proportions produced significantly lower per
formance. Daily weight gains were reduced by 27 % with 15 % white lupi
ns and by 37 % with 30 % yellow lupins. Also feed intake was decreased
significantly in a similar extent compared to the controls. The enzym
e supplementation was of no influence in all groups.
