EFFECTIVENESS OF EXTRACTOR FANS IN REDUCING AIRBORNE MOISTURE IN HOMES

This paper describes two method; which can be used to evaluate the air borne moisture connectivity of spaces, and to estimate the humidity lo ad in each room in small dwellings. The experimental method uses simpl e tracer gas measurements and can also be used to determine the optimu m position and extract rate of ventilation devices. The calculation me thod allows the estimation of the effect that humidity produced in one room would have in another room. Such calculations allow optimum remo val of moisture to avoid condensation risks in source and sink rooms, without unnecessary energy waste.
