Rd. Neuman et al., ON APPLICATION OF IN-SITU LASER SPECTROSCOPIC TECHNIQUES IN SURFACE FORCE APPARATUS, Journal of colloid and interface science, 172(1), 1995, pp. 257-260
The application of in situ laser spectroscopic techniques in a surface
force apparatus represents a novel approach which will provide new kn
owledge of the molecular behavior in thin films between solid surfaces
, In this feasibility study fluorescence recovery after photobleaching
(FRAP) has been employed to directly measure for the first time the m
olecular mobility in surfactant monolayers confined between two solid
surfaces. The significant potential which laser spectroscopic techniqu
es offer for studies of surface, adhesion, and frictional forces is al
so briefly discussed. (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
