The ionic transport properties of the strontia-ceria-ytterbia (SCY) el
ectrolyte and the polarization of the Ag-SCY interphase were studied a
t 600-750 degrees C. Current-overpotential curves were obtained and ex
change and limiting currents were determined. Results suggest that the
process is probably limited by the abstraction of hydrogen from metha
ne to form methyl radicals.
