The two coupled spinon-holon chains are investigated. One finds that f
or the set of parameters which allows us to map the model into two cou
pled Hubbard chains tunnelling occurs and the Luttinger liquid is dest
royed. In addition we find that t(perpendicular to)(2)/J(perpendicular
to) >>t(parallel to)(2)/J(parallel to) preserves the Luttinger liquid
