Abstract
Current controversies surrounding restoration of gastrointestinal cont inuity after pancreaticoduodenectomy are reviewed. The optimum method of reconstruction following this procedure remains debatable, particul arly with regard to the pancreatic anastomosis. Pylorus-preserving pan creaticoduodenectomy is increasing in popularity. Pancreaticogastrosto my is associated with at least as low a morbidity rate as pancreaticoj ejunostomy and is a safe alternative.
