L. Mantegazza et E. Poretti, HD-96008 - AN ELLIPSOIDAL VARIABLE-STAR, NOT AN UNUSUAL F-TYPE VARIABLE, Astronomy and astrophysics, 294(1), 1995, pp. 190-194
High-precision radial-velocity measurements of the star HD 96008 have
allowed us to establish that this object, supposed by some authors to
belong to a new class of unusual F0-type variable stars, is actually a
n ellipsoidal variable. By combining photometric and spectroscopic dat
a it has been possible to derive the physical parameters of the system
characterized by a low mass ratio and seen under a small angle of inc
lination: it consists of an F0 subgiant almost filling its Roche lobe
and an M5 star at 3.6 R(circle dot) from the primary.
