In this letter we investigate the scaling properties of two-dimensiona
l decaying turbulence by direct numerical simulations using smooth ini
tial conditions. We present preliminary results concerning the intermi
ttency related to fluctuations in the enstrophy dissipation and to the
scaling exponents of the vorticity structure functions. The scaling p
roperties of enstrophy dissipation show multifractal behaviour while t
he scaling exponents of the n-order vorticity structure functions are
linear in n. A theoretical interpretation of these results is proposed
.
