Abstract
Multiple sclerosis is hypothesized to be a cell-mediated autoimmune di sease directed against central nervous system myelin. Immunotherapy is directed at decreasing the autoimmune response using both specific an d nonspecific modulation of the immune system in an attempt to halt ac cumulation of disability. Symptomatic therapy may also help multiple s clerosis patients.
