Z. Meglicki et al., GRAVITATIONAL COLLAPSE OF A MAGNETIZED VORTEX - APPLICATION TO THE GALACTIC-CENTER, Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 272(4), 1995, pp. 717-729
A numerical experiment based on smoothed particle magnetohydrodynamics
is used to gain insights into the evolution of magnetic fields, curre
nts and gas flows during the collapse of a magnetized vortex on to a c
ompact massive object. We observe the formation of an expanding ring i
n the symmetry plane of the system and the presence of spiralling inwa
rd motion towards the centre of attraction. The final state of the sys
tem compares favourably with the observed qualitative and quantitative
characteristics of the circumnuclear disc in the Galactic Centre.
