Abstract
A novel technique that is based on a Fourier-series approach has been proposed to analyze the propagation behavior of solitons in an optical fiber. In the analysis both the fiber loss and the third-order disper sion have been considered. The results compare well with the commonly used split-step Fourier method [1]-[3].
