TmBa2Cu3O7-delta thin films have been grown in situ on LaAlO3 substrat
es using a pulsed laser ablation technique and the growth process stud
ied at different growth temperatures. Highly c-axis oriented films wit
h a high critical current density, J(c), of 2.5 x 10(6) A cm(-2) at 77
K have been realized at optimum conditions at a relatively low substr
ate temperature of 700 degrees C. A systematic microstructural study a
nd growth process is presented and discussed.
