Abstract
A case of life threatening air way obstruction secondary to bronchial compression following right pneumonectomy is reported. The aetiology o f postpneumonectomy syndrome and the anaesthetic dilemmas faced are di scussed with reference to the adaptation and use of a chest drain tube as an improvised airway to bypass the bronchial obstruction.
