Abstract
Ba2Cu2O5 and its solid solutions with Bi2O3 have been synthesized and characterized using powder XRD, infrared spectroscopy, and DSC. The or thorhombic unit cell dimensions have been measured with the help of po wder X-ray diffraction. The controversial valence state of copper, exa mined through electron paramagnetic resonance, was found to be divalen t. The structural and magnetic resonance results are discussed in deta il.
