The productivity of two oil seed crops, sunflower and cotton, was stud
ied as a function of cereal protein hydrolysate (CPH) application. Thi
s resulted in an increase in their chlorophyll content by 13 +/- 1%, b
iomass by 10-30% and a crop yield of 13-20%, reflecting energy-intensi
ve requirements of oil seed crops. Besides affording increased product
ivity, CPH spray promoted soil fertility, reduced soil erosion, mainta
ined microbial flora and cumulatively served eco-friendly.
