E. Eschenazi et Kd. Papadopoulos, COLLISION PROBABILITIES IN CONCENTRATED SUSPENSIONS - 2-DIMENSIONAL CASE, Journal of colloid and interface science, 170(1), 1995, pp. 293-294
A two-dimensional model is presented for a randomly moving disk repres
enting a colloidal particle in a concentrated suspension. The probabil
ity that it will be intercepted by some neighboring particle is calcul
ated with a random number generation scheme. Neighboring particles are
allowed to move freely on an outer circle, without being able to over
lap. This work is a first probabilistic attempt at studying rapid coag
ulation kinetics in concentrated suspensions; future studies will incl
ude three-dimensional simulations and interaction forces. (C) 1995 Aca
