F. Fourgeot et al., CRYSTAL-STRUCTURE, MAGNETIC AND ELECTRICAL-PROPERTIES OF THE NEW TERNARY STANNIDE CE2NI2SN, Journal of alloys and compounds, 218(1), 1995, pp. 90-94
The crystal structure of Ce2Ni2Sn has been investigated by single-crys
tal X-ray diffractometry. This stannide adopts an orthorhombic structu
re related to the W2CoB2 type (space group, Immm), the unit cell param
eters being a=0.439 36(9) nm, b=0.573 96(9) nm and c=0.859 67(13) nm.
The magnetization and electrical resistivity measurements reveal that
Ce2Ni2Sn orders antiferromagnetically at T-N=4.7 K. This study shows t
hat the Kondo effect plays an important role in the physical propertie
s of Ce2Ni2Sn.
