Abstract
Layered ternary chalcogenide alpha-BaCu4S3 shows a phase transition at ca, 190K, Electron diffraction studies revealed that the transition w as accompanied by the formation of a superstructure with a wave vector of q = (1/5) b. The observed superlattice electron diffraction patte rns were analyzed on the basis of a superstructure model using the mul ti-slice calculation method.
