Abstract
Anxiety about discussing sexual issues often leads to an avoidance of the topic. This article encourages and assists clinicians in the task of taking a thorough sexual history. The barriers to accomplishing thi s task are explored, and a conceptual framework for inquiring about th e components of sexual life is provided.
